Join Bear Smart Durango on Tuesday, July 8, from 5:30 PM – 7PM for an informative hike in bear country in Perins Peak SWA. Attendees should leave with a better understanding of black bears, the natural foods bears need to survive in the wild, using bear spray and human-bear conflict.
Attendees are asked to meet west of town at the entrance to Perins Peak SWA (gravel parking lot immediately off Lightner Creek Rd. Carpooling is encouraged.

Long pants are strongly encouraged due to Stinging Nettle. The hike is moderately easy, with a gradual climb taking approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on participants.
The walk is free. NOTE: Turns out that donations can not be accepted, so this is truly FREE! Sorry for any confusion.
Directions:
• Take HWY 160 west to Lightner Creek Rd
(about a mile past Wildcat Canyon Rd).
• Turn right onto gravel road immediately after Lightner Creek Bed & Breakfast.
• Park in gravel parking lot at entrance to Perins Peak SWA.
