Pumpkin Drop-Off
Don’t throw those Halloween pumpkins away just yet! In partnership with the City of Durango, CSU Extension and Healthy Community Food Systems, Bear Smart Durango will provide a free pumpkin drop-off on Monday, November 9th from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the overflow parking lot (see map below) at Santa Rita Park, 149 S. Camino del Rio. Pumpkins, just like tree fruit, can act as an attractant for bears and other wildlife. Collected pumpkins will be used to feed pigs and chickens at a ranch in the Florida River valley.
Please note:
• Pumpkins will not be accepted after this date.
• Pumpkins need to be free of candles, wax, paint, or bleach to be accepted.
• Please store in secure location until drop-off.
